The first thing you should know about the annual “What the Fluff” Marshmallow Fluff Festival of Somerville, Massachusetts is that it is delicious. You will gain five to ten pounds between 3 pm and 7 pm. The second thing you should know is that the Fluff Fest is freaking hilarious. And the third thing you should know is that it is jam-packed with fluff-themed… burlesque dancers. They wear fishnet stockings and fluffy bunny tails.
“I hope you have fun at the Fluff Fest!” texted my friend.
“Amy,” I replied, “it is literally impossible to NOT have fun at ‘What the Fluff.’”
Marshmallow Fluff was invented in Union Square, Somerville (one of my favorite Boston-area haunts) a bunch of years ago. In 2006, some brilliant folks decided to celebrate this feat with an annual street party. Let us all praise heaven that genius of this caliber exists on Earth!

I didn’t know fluff was invented is Somerville! Next time, my brother and I will have to go. He’s an insane fluff enthusiast.
In my 13 years of living in Boston, I have never heard of a Fluff festival. It looks interesting and unique.
That looks like SO much fun! I would love to try to make it next year. Maybe I’ll see you there!
OMG seriously?! of course they had to start this after i moved away!
nothing better than warming up from a cold walk home from school than 1/2 a mug of hot cocoa + 1/2 a mug of fluff! fun post
I guess there’s a festival for just about anything!
Oh My God. That looks freaking amazing! Ms. Marshall, did you really gain weight? I don’t think that’s possible!!!! My favorite would probably have to be the burlesque dancers. Firstly, because they looked FIERCE haha, and secondly, because I just saw the movie Burlesque last weekend and I loved it! I definately have to go next year!

I’ve lived in Boston for more than half my life and never HEARD of a Marshmallow Fluff Festival anywhere in Massachusetts. Looks to me like you had a lot of fun.
I had no idea such a thing existed! How cool! I live in Paris and it’s funny to see how much the locals here LOVE marshmallow fluff. They even have strawberry flavored fluff in specialty stores. I didn’t think people back home in the U.S. were still eating the stuff but clearly I was wrong!
Were the Ghost Busters there, just in case things got too far out of hand?
Fluff is the most vile thing I have ever seen, next to cheese in a spray can, but this festival looks like so much fun.
I’ll have to make it out this this event next year! Looks de-li-cious!!
Wow, enough sugar to keep you wired all week in class! Hope the kids can keep up!
Looks like fun! Although to be honest – that amount of sweets looks like it’s going to make somebody feeling, let’s say, not well..
