Normally, Boston’s famed Museum of Fine Arts is more expensive than two movie tickets put together… but it turns out that entrance is FREE every day for kids age 7-17 after 3pm, and on Wednesday evenings, it’s free for EVERYONE!

And you must go NOW. Why? Because there is an exhibit at the MFA now that may be the coolest art experience you encounter in your life: Dale Chihuly’s giant, color-saturated, twisted, spiny, glowing, absolutely magical GLASS creations. Check out these photos, swoon, then mark your calendar for when you can go in person.

  28. [...] Gorgeous photos of Dale Chihuly’s glasswork, taken by the ever-awesome Boston teacher/travel blogger/my college friend Lillie. Chihuly’s work looks very marine-life-inspired to me – three of my favorites are below. For more, head over to Lillie’s place or to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Happy Friday! [...]

  29. I love oceans, and to me this is an ocean in a museum! I honestly see my self going here.

  30. I wasn’t really a big fan of the MFA, but after reading this article and viewing the fantastic picture I have basically been convinced that the MFA is a great place. I would love to visit it one day.

  31. Wow! That’s breathtaking! I love the creative shapes and bright colors. I once got at chance to watch these glass blowers at MIT make this wierd glass pumpkin. They used this colored powder to add color to the class. I’m definately going art museum now.

  32. Oh my gosh! I can’t believe that all those fabulous creations are made out of glass! It looks absolutely amazing and it’s so pretty and colorful! For sure during summer vacation or whenever we have a wednesday off before summer, I will definitely take my family with me. It’s looks so beautiful like a glass wonderland! Those pictures are amazing but don’t most museums not allow flash photography? Anyways, great article! I can’t wait to see it in person!:D

  33. Amazing. It looks like jellyfishes to me. I’ve always found the MFA boring. But after seeing these pictures, I’m stunned by the beauty. I need to see this. It looks like a whole other world!

    • Students: What part of “entrance is FREE EVERY DAY for kids age 7-17 after 3pm” is unclear?! You don’t have to wait for Wednesday! If you don’t believe me, call them to ask! Extra credit if you go :)

  38. I went to the Museum of Fine Arts many times before and although there was always something new every time I went, there was nothing as amazing as this! These pictures are beautiful and I would like to visit the Museum of Fine Arts again soon.

  39. Ms.Marshall, I think you’ve officiously made me the most jealous person right now!
As I’ve been going through Boston, I’ve seen the ad for this on buses and bill boards.
Every time I see it, I shout out in the car that I NEED to go and see it. I’ve been to the MFA
plenty of times, and hopefully many more!

  40. I really like these photos, the pictures of the glass looks really cool, I wish I could do that.

  41. That really does look very cool! Why is it free to get in on wednesday? That seems like a random day of the week to make it. I hope I get to go there because it looks like a really fun time.

  42. Oh my goodness! I’ve seen the advertisement for the exhibition on the side of a trolley and I remember telling my mom that I’d love to go see that. Never happened of course! Maybe I’ll tag along with my sister and stop by the MFA one day after school. (Access to the MFA is free for all BLS students.. not fair) Everyone needs a little color in their life once in a while & this is perfect :)

  43. I would love to go there. I have lived in Boston for eleven years and I still haven’t seen a lot of it. It reminds me of “Spongebob” and how the clouds are made of flowers.

  44. It’s so PRETTY! I can’t even believe my eyes, are they really glass? I would like to go there to check it out!
