As with the first article, here I shall lay out a great family itinerary you can do over one or two days in Montreal. Do keep in mind that the city is [...Read More!]

Irish Breakfast and a Luxury Hotel Near Ashford Castle

When traveling in Ireland, you must decide: How many days in a row can you eat a full Irish breakfast without popping? This traditional, delicious feast consists of the following: Sausage, bacon “rashers,” black and white pudding (pork, oats, and pork blood for black), fried tomato, potatoes, and eggs, all cooked in butter and graced with a heap of Irish soda bread, tea, and orange juice. Wow!

As a proud glutton, I ate a full Irish breakfast [...Read More!]

Why an Ireland Travel Plan Should Include Westport

Ireland has countless cute towns, so the fact that Westport in County Mayo was voted the best place to live in the entire country in 2012 holds major clout. Besides being deliciously livable, Westport is also an excellent place to visit, given its wide variety of historic, natural, and doggone charming attractions.

To begin to understand why people adore Westport, one must first look at the geography. Westport is nestled between mountains and an ocean inlet, providing [...Read More!]

Where in Ireland to Find the World's Best Rainbows

Before we left for our week-long travels in Ireland, our downstairs neighbor demanded we bring back a gift: at least one pot o’ gold from the end of a classic Irish rainbow. Little did I know how easy it would be to find those rainbows in Ireland! (The gold, not so much.)

Why does Ireland have so many rainbows? Because it has a lot of rain! Then sun. Then rain. Then sun. [...Read More!]

See Boston By a Fun Harbor Cruise... With Brunch!

Take to the water, fellow Boston lovers! As summer wanes, I bring you one last gasp of it: images from a sun-kissed “Brunch Cruise” with Boston Harbor Cruises. When the warm weather returns, these boats are a must for spying Boston from a whole different angle.

There were many cruise options to choose from for our family outing, but I selected the brunch boat because… there was food involved. Lots of food over the [...Read More!]

Should I Rent a Car for Puerto Rico Travel? Here's Why.

All my life I’ve been a public transportation lover, but as I researched our Puerto Rico trip in the weeks before we went, a theme kept recurring: “Get a rental car!” everyone “in the know” advised.

But why? Why is having a car so essential in Puerto Rico when we’ve traveled just fine to other locations without our own vehicle?

Once Colin, baby, and I arrived on the island and picked up our car rental, however, it [...Read More!]

What an Amazing Oceanfront Hotel View, Puerto Rico!

I’ve always gazed up-up-upwards at the high-rise hotels dotting fashionable oceanfronts of the world, wondering, “What is it like to look down at this beach from such heights?” Happily, I just got the chance to see for myself during travel through San Juan, Puerto Rico.

When the receptionist at the San Juan Marriott told us our room was on the 19th floor, I became giddy with excitement. My first bird’s-eye view room ever! The [...Read More!]

Don't Miss Boston's Arboretum in Spring: Flower Heaven!

No visit to Boston in our glorious springtime is complete without strolling through the Arnold Arboretum. This sprawling, lush park was established in 1872, and is owned by Harvard University. Just hop off the Orange Line train at the Forest Hills “T” stop, and you’re there!

Skip along with me, now, as we ogle the rainbow colors of May in the Arboretum.

Gorgeous, eh? So which of these blooms would you most yearn to take [...Read More!]

The Best Place to Stay on Martha's Vineyard?

Ahhh, what a difference a good vacation makes! In the five months since our baby was born, my husband and I had not left Boston together, and so it was high time. Scanning the map, we decided on Martha’s Vineyard: the famed island where New England relaxes, yet I (naughty Bostonian that I am) had never visited. But where to stay?

Some sleuthing revealed that one hotel’s name comes up again and again [...Read More!]

Welcome to the World, Our Beautiful New Baby!

Oh, hooray!!!!!!! Colin and I are OVERJOYED to announce the birth of our healthy, happy baby boy! Little baby Devi was born this week after 28.5 hours of labor (the first 18 of which were unmedicated– oh my), and emerged with a lush head of dark hair that the doctor promptly styled into a curled cowlick.

At birth, Devi weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long. Pretty petite for the [...Read More!]
