Photo Essay: Is India's Amber Palace Your Dream Home?

It’s weird looking at photos from a few months ago, before I became pregnant… I look so bite-sized tiny! But the fact remains that I have waterfalls more photos taken during our wonderful India teacher tour from earlier this year, and you shall have these pictures, even if it takes another year for me publish them all.

What we have here are the final photos from our tour of the Amer Fort, also known as the Amber Palace, right outside colorful Jaipur, India in the state of Rajasthan. When we last left off, my husband Colin, my little brother David, and the rest of the teachers on our tour had just climbed the mountain to the Amer Fort on the backs of elephants!

So the sights you see here are from the hours we spent in the vast Amber Palace (right after we found the best place in the world to do a funny Photobomb), gaping at the historic architecture dating to the year 1592 CE. Next to us were tourists from around the world. My favorite tourists, of course, are all those from India, as they are the best dressed! Saris are my favorite fashion on Earth.

I'm behind on some of your posts so I only just saw this. Not sure if you watch Game of Thrones, but this totally reminds me of it (and I'm finally caught up on season 3 and watched the Red Wedding episode everybody was freaking out over months ago)! Especially of the Daenerys Targaryen story arc since she is in the more "exotic" part of that world. Throw in a couple of dragons and you're all set!

Oh Man! That's beautiful. We had it the travel wall by the time we hit Jaipur and ended up spending five days there doing nothing. We got a nice hotel and locked ourselves indoors save for going to McDonalds and the coffee shop around the corner for lattes and newspaper. It's terrible I know, but we had been in India at that time for over two months and were exhausted. Dave was extremely sick in Bikenir where we were stuck for another five days earlier after a camel safari because he was too sick to travel, so by the time we got to Jaipur, we were done. I wish we would have mustered up some energy to go see the Amber Palace, but we didn't. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to go back.

Aw, sorry to hear that, but if there's one thing I've learned during my travel time, it's that you can't do everything, and sometimes rest is mandatory! There are far too many sights to see in India (not to mention the WORLD) to ever do them justice, so it's all good! :)
