See Boston By a Fun Harbor Cruise… With Brunch!

Take to the water, fellow Boston lovers! As summer wanes, I bring you one last gasp of it: images from a sun-kissed “Brunch Cruise” with Boston Harbor Cruises. When the warm weather returns, these boats are a must for spying Boston from a whole different angle.

There were many cruise options to choose from for our family outing, but I selected the brunch boat because… there was food involved. Lots of food over the course of two hours. And fancy table settings, which this classy gal enjoys!

Speaking of classy (read that with sarcasm), I overdid it on the brunch buffet. Below you can see my first of two helpings. Mmm… fried french toast strips…

Throughout the brunch, the glorious sights of Boston and its harbor floated by, and our narrator regaled us with fact after fascinating fact about my city. I won’t repeat them here, however, because I’m a honesty-loving teacher and I don’t want to help you cheat on the guide’s trivia if you ever take this cruise! Needless to say, I’ve lived in Boston most of my life, but still learned so much from the narration.

Meanwhile, our pudgy baby kept it classy like his Mommy and stuffed his face with all manner of juicy, and crumb-producing items. The cruise staff kindly offered a high chair, and didn’t seem to mind the mess little Devi (aka, “Brunch Monster”) created.

Boats of all types drifted by, and we seafaring folk waved at each other cordially. The only boat that didn’t “drift” was the Boston Harbor Cruises “Codzilla” thrill ride: a vessel that blazes through the harbor at 40 miles per hour and has scary, sharp teeth painted on its bow. When Devi is old enough, we will surely use him as an excuse to try it!

Our harbor cruise had a magical “getaway” quality to it, and created new family memories. It was especially touching because one of the first dates Colin took me on (after a terrifying flying lesson) was actually a Boston Harbor cruise! It was lovely to be back out on the harbor almost exactly four years later, but this time married, and with a cute little baby.

And what did Devi think of this whole brunch cruise thing? He couldn’t get enough of the fresh sea breeze blowing on his face. Boy, did it make him giggle… and isn’t his windblown hairstyle awesome?
