Last year at this time, my husband Colin, my brother David, and I were gearing up to take a teacher tour of India. Believe it or not, I still have hundreds of photos from that trip which remain to be put into articles… so here’s the next batch! These images are of the most beautiful doorways I’ve ever seen, spotted at the City Palace in Jaipur, India.
Lap up the colorful details of each of these distinct archways, and decide: If you had an infinite budget, which of these doorways would YOU pick to purchase for your place of residence?
It’s funny to look at these photos from a year ago and think how different things are now in our lives, what with our sweet new baby’s arrival!
But it’s all worked out deliciously.
Since we were able to squeeze in the epic India trip before our baby emerged, now we don’t feel hemmed in by the fact that we can’t really roam the world (or sometimes even leave the house) for a little while due to the tyrannical diaper and feeding demands of our little lord.
So the moral is this: Now may not be the “perfect” time to take a big trip, but do it sooner rather than later, because you never know what might be coming next!
See more art inspiration and famous architecture from around the world at that link — I compiled 40 beautiful articles together there, including this one.

We will be visiting Delhi, Agra and Jaipur next month (June, 2016). Google brought me to your page. After reading through your first article on the "Taj," almost two hours ago, I'm still stuck on your site. I revisited some of you pages just to look at the amazing photos. What a treat! Your web site is a treasure for sure. Thank you very much for the writeup and the photos (complements each other very well) displaying incredible India.
Have a good one!

Simply beautiful. Why can't there be places like that here in the US? We are so focused on technology that we usually forget the artistry of it.

What exquisite doorways! The intricacy and detailed-coloring are just stunning! I'm planning a trip to India in 2015 but I'll focus on the south. However Rajasthan seems to have so many amazing places to visit. Might need to plan another trip to India afterwards.
