Do the Skyline and Art of Toronto, Canada Surprise You?

In my recent jaunt to Toronto, Canada for the world's biggest travel blogger conference, two things particularly impressed me about the city: its artsy funkiness, and its skyline.

This article will weave together the two elements in a confusing manner, so hold onto your brain. The artsy side shall be demonstrated by the hip storefronts from Kensington Market, Toronto. The city's luminous skyline will be shown in photos from an evening boat ride out to Centre Island. Enjoy!

So what do you think? Are you surprised by the art and skyline of Toronto, Canada? For more boat-view fun, click here for photos from a skyline harbor cruise of my #1 favorite city!

Covering the car too was an interesting idea. I hope the owner agreed :)
I would totally drive that car!
I really enjoyed seeing your trip to Toronto, Canada. Its even feels like I lived the moments you had. I really loved all the artworks that you saw and Toronto's skyline lights as the sun sets. The best feature was the buildings lighting up at night to make the ocean glow. I cant wait to see more of your trips around the world.
Love the night shots of the city skyline !!
So colorful and beautiful! :)
So colorful, even the lights at night.
These are the best images of my hometown I've seen from a TBEX blogger! Thank you!
So glad! :)
Toronto is a boring gloomy and dishonest city.... Looks nice from the outside. But inside, it is the most boring place on earth.
Love the first mural! I'm a big fan of Toronto. We went for the International Film Festival and had a fantastic time.
So much to see and experience in Toronto, I'm enjoying seeing what I missed while exploring elsewhere!
NBD, Toronto is amazing
The skyline is what really shocked me! I've heard, intermittently, that Toronto's got a pretty great arts district and some really beautiful graffiti, but I've honestly never seen the skyline. You got absolutely gorgeous night shots from the ferry!
I lived in TDot (aka Toronto) between 1999 & 2004 and it was FABULOUS!! I was a CompSci internship student who 'discovered' the rave there by accident. Let me tell you, TDot back then had, arguably, the BEST Electronic Dance Music (EDM) scene on the planet -- right in the Clubs District downtown. If you wanted to hear House, Progressive House, Tribal House, Tech House, Techno, Trance, Tech Trance, Drum & Bass, or Jungle music, TDot was THE place! The local DJ talent in that city is phenomenal!
In TDot, there's so much to do, really! Toronto Zoo, Canada's Wonderland, Chinatown, lots of Arts venues, Theatre/musicals, professional sports teams, wicked Summer music & cultural festivals & more!
Nice pics BTW...took me back down memory lane & reminds me how much I miss that city's AMAZING vibe! :-(
Anyhow, here's a BIG shoutout to DJ Myka, Kenny Glasgow, Dekoze, Addy, Mark Scaife, Tim Patrick, Jelo, & the others (too many to list) from clubs (some now closed) like the Comfort Zone, The Guvernment, Kool Haus, System Soundbar, The Docks, Elements, Film Lounge, Life, NV and Turbo. Thanks for the amazing beats!
Wonderful photos Lillie!
I was able to visit Toronto on my way home from South Korea earlier this year and I loved it. I really need to get back to spend more than a full day there. I loved the funkiness of it and it had a smaller feel to it, which I loved, rather than the feeling of just a massive city like New York or Chicago. Love the photo of the skyline at night. Great shot.
lillie, these photos are amazing. especially the city at night. lovely. i would have never of thought of toronto like that. thank you.
Wow beautiful shot at sunset.
I love your photos of my city! It was such a nice night out on the island.
I love street art. This one in your photos is amazing!
Toronto has a beautiful skyline. The artsy side of TO and the little shops are wonderful!
