As I re-learn to drive with a new baby in the car here in Boston, I thank my lucky stars I am not re-learning to drive in India, which has some of the most hectic roadways I have ever seen.

Check out these shocking (well, for my sheltered American eyes) vehicular sights from our teacher tour of India last year...

Wowza. Doesn't India bring "diversity in action" to a whole new level? So, which of these modes of transport would YOU most and least like to try?

  3. I find it very interesting how in India they have crazy and different ways to travel on the road. Because usually Americans drive in cars and there is laws on the road but in India there seems to be a whole bunch of different ways to go.

    1. Actually its Radha , She is Krishna's supreme beloved.
      Together their names sound Radhe-Krishna.

  4. my mom visited India back in October, looks exactly like how she described it! I'm currently living in Brazil and have seen some crazy things on the road myself, but it looks like India wins the award for craziest drivers.

  5. I have also seen some pretty weird thing in the roads of Central America too, especially in the smallest towns. Great Photos!

  7. Lordy, all those animals sharing the road!

    I'll never forget seeing entire families balanced on tiny scooters in Vietnam. Still have iPhone video of them zipping through the traffic.

  10. One can see some amazing means of transports, and the amounts of stuff being transported, throughout Asia. In Indonesia I saw bags and bags and bags of fruits and veggies being transported on a small moped.
    I certainly admired the inginuity :)
